This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.

What is a local move?
This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.

What is an intrastate move?
This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.

What should I do if one of my items is damaged during the move?
Professional movers and packers do their best to ensure all your belongings arrive safely to your destination. However, damage sometimes occurs. In this case, please email or call your moving company as soon as possible with the details.

Should my movers pack my breakables?
We recommend letting professional movers pack breakable items because most insurance providers will only cover the cost of damage done to breakable items that have been packed by a professional moving company.

What is an extra pickup?
Most moving companies will charge you extra to make any stops to pick up or deliver additional items from anywhere other than your origin and destination.

What should I do with kitchen items that I need to use?
We recommend that you pack up all your items or have the movers pack them and prepare to dine out or use paper plates for a few days prior to your move.




What should I do with my plants?
We recommend that you move your plants yourself as they can suffer from a lack of light and water and temperature extremes in the truck. Please note that some countries will not allow the import of plants or other agricultural items if you’re planning an overseas move.

What are “extraordinary value” items?
In the moving industry, these items are ones that have a value of more than $100 per pound. You must list all of these items on the inventory form your moving company will provide.
